I am really struggling with this and coould do with some assistance basically I had a dashboard in Google sheets which contained a table with 2 drop down options. Basically a date drop down and a "completed/in progress" drop down looking at a table. Users select the required date from the drop down and then whether they want to see completed actions or actions still in progress from another drop down. As there is no import range I can query on like there is in Google sheets I wondered if anybody could help me build something similar in Excel. I thought power query may do the trick?

Welcome to our forum.
I'm not sure a query is what you need, unless the source data for your dashboard needs fetching from another source.
I would use Slicers to allow the user to choose th period and status they want displayed in the report. You can use Slicers with Tables or Slicers with PivotTables.
