I am using Excel 2013, I have the Power Query add-in but unfortunately my version does not qualify for the Power Pivot add-in. I assume my issue has to do with that, as I am using the data model. I am creating a dashboard, that is lovely and beautiful and good . . . then I went to update it. When I updated it to bring in March data my slicer isn't sorting by the custom list sort order! I know how to fix it if I had the full access to the data model, but I don't; is there a work around?

Hi Jessica,
There's no workaround that I'm aware of. Perhaps you can create a field that you can sort numerically e.g. mm-yy or if you'll have multiple years, yy-mm.
