Excel data table being exported to BI

Hi everyone,

I have a difficult with my data structure when preparing my data table to export into BI. My data is related with a Machine weekly operation.

My table has the data for each machine, the day (from Monday to Sunday) and the hour when the machine is operating during these days.

I will try to get a Line chart showing the hour periods when my machines are operative from Monday to Sunday.

I am not sure if the layout of my data table is the best one and once in BI, I am not sure either witch data column should be the right candidate as the Axis, and Values. I have tried several ways without success but I think it is due to the structure of my data.

I appreciate any insight to my question. I have attached a small sample with only three machines.

Best regards,

Jesus Molina

Hi Jesus,

The file didn't get attached. You need to click 'start upload' after selecting your file, then wait for the grey check mark beside the file size before clicking 'submit reply'.

Also, I moved this question to the course members forum so that I make it a priority to answer.

Hi Jesus,

Thanks for sharing your file. I can see it is not in the correct tabular layout. You need to use Power Query to unpivot the 'h' columns into a single column and the values in to another single column (you can do this using Power Query in Power BI). Then you can summarise the data by hour and get the chart you want.
