Hi,

I have several years of monthly electricity consumption dataset. I need to extract Client/Costumer and their electricity consumption data. Columns with information of interest have been highlighted in the attached file.

Each Month has over 4,000 electricity consumption dataset. However, I have attached a simple sample file for your review.

I have tried searching them individually using the Find option in Excel but it's very difficult and time consuming.  I could not use the VLookUp, Match, Index functions either.

I am wondering if anyone here knows of a simple way or method that they can teach me or share with me.

Thanks in advance.

Charles

Hello,

Have you tried using a Pivot Table? That would be my option to use.

Anders

Hi Charles,

Welcome to our forum! Thanks for sharing your file. You didn't give an example of the desired result, but going by the highlighted columns you can summarise this data with a PivotTable. See file attached.

Hi Charles,

Have you tried using a power query? It would be helpful.

Hi Charles,

All the suggestions made so far are valid options for you, but perhaps what we're missing is how flexible this solution needs to be. e.g. is this something you want to be able to do on demand? Do you need to extract the data for a specific customer as a reference point when required? Or do you want to generate a report for each customer into a separate worksheet/workbook? Or is this a one off task or will it need to be updated every month. Do you want the data summarised, or listed. An example of the desired output would help.

Please also let us know what version of Excel you have. If you have Microsoft 365 then you have more and better options than if you only have a perpetual Excel license like 2016 or 2019 for example.

Mynda
