Hi all,

I've a list of categories and they have been ranked over a series of weeks.

How do I do a line chart (I assume) to show the ranking position over time?

The piece I can't fathom out is how to have my category names as labels instead of "numbered scores" on both the right and left (axis) of the chart.

These labels remain on the same "line" so, it's not just adding a series name to the last data point. Dynamically Label Excel Chart Series Lines • My Online Training Hub

Ideally as little manual intervention as possible as new categories will come and go and the week dates will changed.

Attached is an example.

Thanks

Hi Andrew,

The file didn't get attached. You need to click 'start upload' after selecting your file, then wait for the grey check mark beside the file size before clicking 'submit reply'.

I've had to select the 1st and last data point for each category and then add data labels to each and align them left and right appropriately. I still can't get the labels in the same order on both sides, yet googling, this chart might be something called a slope graph? I'm wondering if I need to add more data to my chart data to sort the axis label order.

Onwards and upwards.

Hi Andrew,

Yes, see this tutorial on slope charts in Excel. Warning, there's no shortcuts!
