I am trying to combine data from 5 files. I am getting the error in the attached picture.

I got a similar error not too long ago stating: "An error occurred in the ‘Transform File’ query. Expression.Error: The key didn't match any rows in the table."

I can't post the Excel workbooks because the information is company related. The data is organized with column headers on the first row and no blank rows within the data set. I copied the headers from all 5 files and pasted them into a blank sheet and used formulas to test if they are all equal. They are all equal, i.e. the column names are spelled the same way, in the same order and with the same casing.

So everything is aligned perfectly yet I'm still getting this error.

1. What could be causing this error?

2. In the attached picture of the error, what is the key?

Hi Michael,

There's no picture attached.

This error usually indicates that a column or sheet is missing, or named something other than the query expects.

Did you check that all column names do not have any trailing or leading spaces?

Can you supply your query and the 5 files with the data removed?  Just a row of dummy data in each will do for testing.

Regards

Phil

I forgot to mention, each of the 5 files has multiple tabs. I am trying to combine the "Project" tabs from all 5 files. I tried to edit my original post but it said I didn't have permission. Can multiple tabs be interfering somehow? If I posted dummy data, could I include only the "Project" tab in each file?

Hi Michael,

Best to include all worksheets (tabs) in the files.  The error may have something to do with the sheets/sheet names not being consistent.

Regards

Phil
