Hello. Love the template, it is taking me a while but I'm inputting my transaction subcategories for my transactions. I save the workbook and refresh the data every time I add a new subcategory that I need. On the latest refresh, I'm getting an error message that Excel is unable to update PivotTable9 on the Report worksheet because it would overlap another pivot table. I'm not sure what to do, can someone advise this novice? Thank you!
Move your pivot table to a fresh worksheet. Apparently you have more than one PT on the same sheet and they are overlapping. If this is not the case then suggest you post your workbook here.
I do not know how to move the pivot table, and I really really do not want to mess up Mynda's finance tracker template report tab, which has several pivot tables on one sheet. Here is my finance tracker worksheet. I have completed the transactions tab but the report tab is not updating when I try to refresh, because of the overlap. Thank you in advance for any guidance.
When you add new (sub)categories, the large pivot tables expand downward. So, you should not put anything below them when you are still developing the tracker. In your case the "Net savings" pivot table was in the way for the pivot table by Category (i.e. the one in columns I:M).
I've moved that pivot table that (and some others) to the left side. Once you no longer need to add categories (and pivot tables will no longer resize) you can rearrange them again.
Moving a pivot table is easy. Just select the entire table and drag/drop it where you want. You'll be warned if you try to make a wrong move and won't let you.
