Dear Philip,
I have question regarding the subject.
I would like know if there is a way in excel which I can use the index I created in one spreadsheet with a distinctive color for a specific text in each cell.
I would like the fill color to show whenever the specific text from the index is used in other spreadsheets . For instance I have 6 teams each in two different departments taking part in a sports competition. I would like each team to be identitied with a unique color on the draw whenever thier is a match between two teams for each round.

Hi Ishey
You can try using Conditional Formatting.
Whenever a specific text (team) is selected, conditional format that cell to the required color.
Hope this helps.

Hi Sunny,
Thanks for your responds. Does this mean that If I am working on Multiple speadheets do I have to use conditional formatting in all those spreadsheets? Or is there another easier way around to this.
You can copy the Conditional Formatting to each of the sheet/file.
Dear Sunny,
Could you explain where do I copy the conditional formatting and how do I apply to each spreadsheet?
Hi Ish,
Did you follow the link to this post on Conditional Formatting which will answer your questions?

Phil

Hello,
The Excel Experts course covers how to work with conditional formatting and much more.
Look at the guidelines section in the blog article linked by Phil and Sunny.
Guidelines:
1) Conditional formatting is, at its most simple, a format or group of formats. That means if you copy and paste the cell you also copy and paste the conditional format.
