Hi All,

I am having serious brain fade trying to calculate a percentage use rate.

We create compound ingredients that are then used by our customer in another compound ingredient, some of the raw materials we use contain additives restriced by law. In this case its aluminium.

The raw material contains Aluminium at 14800ppm

Legal Limit as consumed is 1.5ppm

We use the aluminium containing raw material at 0.25%

Which should result in a customers usage rate of 4% giving 1.48ppm

How do I reverse calculate the useage percentage to make it easir to calculate ?

Hope this is clear because I am slowly going crazy

John

Hello,

Easiest method to reverse calculate percentage is value / percentage * 100.

1.48 / 4 * 100 = 37

37 / 0.25 * 100 = 14 800

Br,
Anders

Thanks Anders, butr perhaps I wasn't clear.

I want to find out what the value equivalent to the 4% in my example.

i.e.

Use the 1.5ppm finished product legal limit, the 14800ppm in the raw material and the 0.25% in the recipe find out what the maximum % (in my example 4)

regards

John

Hello,

This is a math excercise.

What is 1% of 14800 = 14800 / 100 = 148

What is 0.25% of 148 = 148 * 0.25% = 0.37

How many 0.37 can you have in 1.5 limit = 1.5 / 0.37 = 4.05405405

Formula = 1.5/((14800/100)*0.25%)
