Hi all, new to the forum, so go easy on me. i am new to power BI although i have been teaching myself using the info on here which has helped me to design a basic dashboard. i am wanting to know what the best layout template is for me to create on an excell to load into power BI that will enable me to create a better interactive dashboard for budget and other monthly results. i need to report month by month then maybe dive in a bit deeper into each month. please attached see what i currently have and created a basic dashboard from. i suppose questions are - do i have the month/headings the right way round and is the month columns correct, do i need to put dates? any advice on any of it will be greatly appreciated, many thanks.

Hello,
Welcome to MOTH.
If you haven't found this resource page already so do take a look, it contains lots of Excel treasures.

In general I would separate the forecast and the actual data into tables of their own, making sure the structure was the same in both tables. But depending on what it is you want to show that is perhaps unnecessary. I would also go with dates and then in another column bring forth the months name from those dates, but what is important if you are going to have two or more tables that are referencing each other is that you have an ID of some sort. If the dates or month names are to be such ID's then make sure they have same structure.
One other important thing is to have your data in a tabular format (seems you already know this).

If there is something specific you wonder about please highlight that, in overall the best layout is up to the creator.
