Hello.

I am in the process of creating a Personal Finance Dashboard with the teachings from the training https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZdqNZizZ6N0.

I need help - i have downloaded my transactions (multiple banks, and mutiple CC)

I am lost to how to create the debits and credits column...

--> if i pay my card, it would be a credit on my CC but a debit on my Bank.

what i am saying is that i am struggling with the Transactions tab in this tutorial

how do i account for Purchases, and then half the order return from Amazon or any other company

Also, for my transactions, i feel i need to have more categories and sub categories than these

Help, Please help.

Enter your credit card purchases as an expense and returns as a positive expense i.e. in the amount goes in the Income column but with an expense category and subcategory.

Repayments to your card are entered as transfers and are 'not reported'. That way you don't double count the expense.

You can add more categories and subcategories to suit your needs.

Hi,

I've been using the Finance Tracker for a few months now and it's been great!

...but I've run into an issue where I've tried adding data to the Bank Transaction tab and when I refresh the data, the slicer on the Report tab disappears and the Income and Expense field lists display individual dates.

I've checked all the data inputted to the Bank Transaction tab but have not been able to figure out the problem. The problem seems to start at line 780 in the Bank Transaction tab.

Please help!

@tk_aus

Did you perhaps change the way you entered the transactions in the Transactions table? For instance copy/paste dates, descriptions and amounts from another source in stead of entering proper dates (and more) manually. Just a thought. Can you create a copy of your file and remove any private information from it, and upload it here. Without a file on hand that contains the behaviour you describe it's difficult to be sure.

@riny Hi Riny, thank your for responding.
If I upload a copy of the file here, is it visible to other users? Even after de-identifying the data, there is a lot of detail on the spreadsheet that I'm not comfortable sharing publicly.

@tk_aus Yes it will be visible to all and understand your concern. That's also why I'm not comfortable to give you my real e-mail address. The one below is one that I can deactivate after a while.

Thanks Riny, I'll send something through for you to look at.

Kind regards,
