Hi All,
I'm maintaining an Excel dashboard with around 600 lines of data for 30 KPIs. (in the attached file is an example of 01 KPI - Produced hours of a production plant).
It runs very slowly because of too much data and too many graphs (for 30 KPIs over years) and I'm trying to convert it into Power BI.
However, I have some problems as below:
- Data arrangement so that it can work in Power BI. Looks like my current data arrangement in Excel is not working in Power BI. I have tried several different ways but still cannot work.
- How to get the same visualization in Power BI as shown in Excel file. - Need to show:
-
- Last year actual, this year budget, this year plan, this year act in a same chart - month wise
- Same as above for YTD
It is so grateful if you can advise me how to solve the above problems.
Thank you very much,
Vinh

Hi Vinh,
Welcome to our forum!
Your data must be in a tabular format to work in Power BI. You can use Power Query to unpivot it when you import it into Power BI. The calculations for total, monthly average and YTD should be done using Power Pivot DAX measures as opposed to being imported from the data set.
It's not a trivial task to build a Power BI model. I recommend you take my Power BI + Power Query +Power Pivot course bundle available from my Power BI course page.
I hope that points you in the right direction.

Hi Mynda,
I have tried several times to post a reply but haven't seen any of them here. Hope this time I succeed.
Thank you for your reply. I went through your links and trying to re-structure my data.
Your courses are fantastic and I'd love to join them when I can.
Thanks a lot,
Vinh
