Hello there,
Thanks for all the interesting topics and tips & tricks already found here.
At the moment I'm having a question for which I haven't found a solution just yet.
example: I have a list of customers with their spent per month (customers in rows, spend per month in columns). I have added sparklines as an extra column, line sparkline, so it is easy to see the evolution in the customer spent. I have also added negative in red so this gets the attention as well.
But I was wondering whether it is also possible to add a trendline to a sparkline, so you can see the trend in this one-cell graph.
Thanks in advance for your help,
kind regards,
Natasja
And I was thinking that a sparkline already was giving the trend.... 🙂
What you can do is make extra helper columns for the average for each quarter and make the sparkline only from this quarterly trends.....?
Hi natasja
I don't think you can add a trendline to a sparkline unless you fake it. Even if you managed to do that, the sparkline will be very difficult to read. You can see an example here https://alesandrab.wordpress.com/2013/12/13/stackable-sparklines/
In your scenario, I would fake a sparkline using a normal chart. I have created 2 series of line charts, one with a trendline and the other with markers only (line hidden) for displaying negative value markers. I have hidden all the chart elements except the lines and markers.
See my example attached.
Hope this helps.
