Got a cool Excel trick you're proud of?
I thought it'd be fun to hold an Excel Factor competition.
Think X-factor (the TV show) but instead of massive fame and prize money (sorry, the budget doesn't extend that far yet), the prize is that you get to 'share the knowledge' with your Excel community and receive some modest fame...there's over 40,000 readers every month.
You know the feeling you get when you help a colleague with an Excel challenge, well this is that times 40,000+.
You might have a funky chart, an impressive formula, or a secret one like the DATEDIF function I shared with you last week.
It could be a cool way to use conditional formatting, or advanced filters, a macro or VBA you've written, or just something clever you do that saves you loads of time (like shortcut keys).
Don't underestimate yourself either. No matter how simple you think your idea is, there will be loads of people who will benefit from your knowledge.
It doesn't have to be original (let's face it; most things in Excel have been done before).
There are no limits, just great ideas to share.
Here's how to enter:
Send me an email with an example of your cool trick ( if you need to attach a file use the Help Desk to raise a ticket and I'll get your entry) including an explanation of the steps to re-create it, or if it's a formula please explain what it does.
Also tell me a little about yourself (attach a photo if you wish), where you're from, how long you've been using Excel, what you use Excel for in your job and any other relevant information. I'll publish this along with your Excel trick.
Now, don't be shy. Statistics show that typically not many people enter these types of competitions because they think they won't be in with a chance, but that's not true.
There's no limit to the number of entries, as long as great ideas come in I'll continue to publish them.
So, what are you waiting for? Send me your Excel Factor idea.
Have a great day 🙂
Mynda.

Hi Des,
You can use Text to Columns to separate data based on various delimiters including spaces, or you can use formulas. The best method depends on where you want the data separated.
I hope that points you in the right direction.
Kind regards,
Mynda.
