I am working with 9.18 Change Chart Type with Slicers.  It is working brilliantly until I get to the part where you copy the Pivot Table Chart as a link and then the slicer governs what chart is displayed on what filter.  Unfortunately, every time I have come to create this part, Excel won't let me paste the chart as a link.

  • I have recreated the spreadsheet.
  • Checked OptionsAdvanced to see all options under Cut and Paste section was ticked.
  • I have reinstalled Microsoft Office.

None of these steps have fixed the problem.

Please help, I would really like to see the Change Chart Type with Slicers working.Laugh

Thanks,

Sonia

Hello Sonia,

I will be glad to help you out 🙂

You need to select the cell that the Pivot Chart is located in and press CTRL+C.  It seems that you are selecting the Pivot Chart instead, which will not work.

The video tutorial at minute 05:10 shows this, where I select the cell behind the Pivot Chart, I press CTRL+C and then I go to the empty Cell and Right Click and select Paste Special > Other Paste Options > Linked Picture.

I hope this is clear and please reply back to confirm that this works.

Thanks,

John Michaloudis

Hello John,

I followed the steps using CTRL+C but still no luck.  I can paste the chart in any other Office document as a linked picture without any problems.

I created the Pivot Tables and Charts in a separate worksheet and used CTRL+C to copy them into the Interactive Chart worksheet and then tried the CTRL+C to copy a linked chart.

I think this is an Excel 2016 issue.

Thanks,

Sonia

Hi Sonia,

I have tested the Paste Special Linked Picture and it works in Excel 2016.

You need to make sure NOT TO COPY the Pivot Chart.

You need to select the cells behind the Pivot Chart, then press CTRL+C and in another sections of your worksheet, select an empty cell and Paste Special > Other Paste Options > Linked Picture.

So in effect this trick takes a snapshot/screenshot of the Pivot Chart & its surroundings.

I hope this helps.

Thanks,

John
