I hope someone here can help!
Everytime I try to pull these three workbooks together using power query it blanks and gives me errors. I have tried it with simpler examples with success so I know that it works on my device/sharepoint, but the three excel docs that need to be compiled contain vlookups and dropdowns. I am wondering if power query has limitations on the functions allowed within the sheet/workbook (I know the tutorial said no totals allowed).

I am not an excel wizard so I could very well be doing something wrong, but if anyone could assist I would appreciate it!
Is there any reason the examples loaded could not be compiled using power query? If they can be- could someone explain how? Will answer any and all questions to the bet of my ability!

Hi Kyrstin,

Welcome to our forum. I had no problems using the Get Data > From Folder connector to extract the data in your files.

I used the Table name in each file (Table3) and Power Query was able to locate the data. See my file attached.

Note: you will need to edit the file path in the query to look at the location of the sample files on your own PC, as it will be looking for them on my PC.

Hi Mynda,
Thank you! But this looks like it was with a regular folder path rather than Sharepoint folder- unfortunately it needs to be housed in sharepoint. Could you tell me how to alter this accordingly? (Way out of my depth here!)

Thank you!

Hi Kyrstin,

I tested on SharePoint too and it worked fine. Here is a tutorial on getting data from SharePoint folders with Power Query.

Note: as expected, the rows in your files that contain #N/A errors display as 'error', instead of displaying #N/A in Power Query, but the rows containing data import fine.

Thank you Mynda
I initially wasn't selecting the table- I selected the sheet and got
"ExternalData_1:Getting Data..."
then a pop up saying
"[Expression.Error] The Key didn't match any rows in the table."
However after I selected the table instead of the sheet it still won't work with the original docs- but I did a separate trial with the mockup docs I shared and that worked!
I will have to play with them to see if I can convince them to cooperate.

Thank you for your assistance!

Best to reference the tables as opposed to the sheets if you can.
