Hello,
I have a report that sorts by parent and child categories. The report is exported to excel. I manually have to copy and paste the parent and child hierarchy so that I could bounce this report against other information for analysis. It could take hours depending on the time frame of the report.
The issue is the report places the Parent and Child into the same excel column. I am hoping to pull out the Parent and Child relationship using PQ, but my skills aren't up to the task. I can visually see where the Parents are in the report data (I've highlighted a few Parents in the Data), I just can't figure out how to get PQ see the same thing. I can get the Child but can't seem to get the Parent.
If anyone can help me learn how to extract the Parent and the Child, I would appreciate it.
Thanks,
Steve

Hi Steve,
In the attached file I used the technique described in this post (see Complex Table example) to reference the next row to determine whether it was a parent or child header.
Hope that points you in the right direction.
