I've got an excel file with a formatted table called TableName(no spaces) on a sheet table called Table Name (spaces). For some reason, when connecting to the excel file in PowerBi, the table name sometimes shows up as TableName1 or TableName5 etc.
It's like they have a secret REAL name in excel and I can't figure out how to change it. Sorry this might be more of an excel/power query question, but anyone know what's going on?
The reason this is important is because I have multiple files in the same format (one for each customer) and I have all the excel file links stored in a parameter so I can quickly switch between client data in power bi. But there are issues if the power query is looking for a table called "TableName1" and I switch to a different file and suddenly that table is called "TableName2".

I've just discovered this "feature" with tables in an Excel file. Table names match the worksheet name on which they are stored. This seems to lead to numbers appended to table names when loading to Power BI. The numbers appear to be dependent on the sheet order.

As OP said, it is not convenient 🙁
