Hello Mynda,

Every month I receive excel files from our Data Analyst which contains appended information to the hystorical data. So, for May, I will basically receive the previous file from April, plus the extra information related to May; also, the data to be contained in the May file will have different updates to it, as some old cases are about to close in the near future.

I wanted to ask you if it makes sense to try using this technique you presented here t=1044s for my situation. It is absolutely stunning how at the end you updated the Dashboard with the 2017 data in an instance! If not, can you please recommend me a method using either Excel or PowerBI to automate the process?

Much appreciated,

Alexandra

Hi Alexandra,

Welcome to our forum! Yes, you can use that technique for your data. Just replace the files in the folder with the files containing the data you want to keep and click the Refresh All button 🙂

Hello Mynda,

Indeed, because a connection was created to the folder!

I presented this solution earlier, combined with the unipivoting training, and showed it to my reporting manager and colleagues and they were impressed! They told me to extend this process to other reports too.

On this new step, my other concern would be: can a row/column be added/removed without messing everything up? Maybe you could help me on this too...

The feedback received felt very rewarding. It was all thanks to you, your talent and passion gave me courage to dive bit deeper into Excel. Appreciate your warm welcome and all your support, your trainings are heaven!

Alexandra
