I officiate American High School football on my off time and the season is getting ready to kick offLaugh.

I have an Excel workbook (TASO 2021 Game Schedule) that was created from two downloaded files.

In the query, I have the two files (South and Southeast) and the merged query (South_Southeast) of the two.

I edited the merged query the way I wanted and then "Closed and Saved" to a worksheet, with some slicers.

The workbook contains all of the games from these two regions that I can work in and I have to select which games I can officiate, as you can see there are multiple games per day, I can only work one, so I inserted a new column outside of the table to tag the games I want to officiate, but if the game list changes and it will change, my selection does not follow the one I selected.

Is there a way of linking the selection to the game and if the query data changes, the selection will stay with the correct game?

I don't know if this will work, I have put the two files that work together in the attachment area.

To get the raw data, I go to our official website and export the two regions games independently and copy them to "Pregame Schedule" file, to their respective worksheets, then connect to them by the query from the other file.

I image there is a better way of doing this, but I'm have to go with what I know at this level of experience with Excel.

Thanks for your help

Doug

Hi Doug,

The way to do this is to add an index column to your final merged query called South_Southeast. Then in a separate table create a list of the games and their respective index numbers that you want to officiate i.e. in this new table store the 'new column' data and the index number. Then merge this table with the South_Southeast table using the index column as the common link.

Mynda,

Thank you, I'm still learning all of this, I believe I understand what you have suggested to do.

I will let you know how I do.

Doug
