Hi Mynda,
Just wanted to ask general advise about necessity of having a separate Date Dim Table in Data Model if i am using Excel 2016 365?
What are benefits of adding the separate Date Table to data model ?
Kind Regards,
Valeria

Hi Valeria,
A separate date table allows you to use those fields in DAX measures/formulas, whereas with an implicit date hierarchy you don't have this ability. e.g. filter by year, quarter, month etc. Plus, many of the time intelligence functions require a contiguous range of dates, which may not be present in your fact table. I recommend always using a Dim date table.
Kind regards,
Mynda
