Hi everyone,

please suggest,

1) If the dates marked with the added letter in the attached table (example 2018-11-16 A) could be converted into a correct date format as 16.11.2018?

2) Can the task ID's in the first column (Task Id) be properly aligned using formulas?

pls see attached table

Thank you

Zhan

Hi Zhanekesh, welcome with your first question here.

I found some solutions and put them in your sheet in new columns. You can see which formula I use in your own language I think.

The idea for answering question 1 was only to have the datetext in one column so I used the 'left' formula. And then in the next column I converted it with another formula (of which I don't know what the English is). Then I had to format the cell to date and that did the job.

Your question two is possible with the 'trim' function as you can see in the next column

Good luck!

Frans

Hello,

The reason to why you get these #VALUE! errors is because the month abbreviations in columns C and D are English, but you have a different language set in Excel, most likely same as your Windows regional settings. The DATEVALUE function is not able to find out what month that some of the abbreviations stands for. I for example get errors for the months of May and October, because the abbreviations in Swedish are Maj and Okt for those.

Either you change the language settings in Excel or you change the abbreviations to what they are in your language. Best would be to avoid using such abbreviations, instead use numbers for dates, then you can work with the data regardless of language and regional settings.
