Hi,

I hope that I am posting in the right forum.

I've watched a lot of YouTube videos including almost all of your channel ones.

I am trying since a lot of hours so far and I can not figure it out.

I've attached the file that I need help with.

2 sheets in the file: (MobileWallets-QualityMetrics).

I want to relate each yellow column from the MobileWallets sheet to each yellow columns in the QualityMetrics sheet.

I want to place them in the Power BI canvas.

Please advice for the right way because I can not list everything correctly.

Also links not working when I drag it.

Thanks

Hi MG,

Firstly, your data isn't structured correctly. The MobileWallets table isn't in a tabular format. You also need dimension tables in order to relate the tables together.

If you don't know what I mean by these terms, then I recommend you take a Power Pivot course, because these are the absolute fundamentals of Power Pivot modelling tool in Power BI and it's too much to cover in a forum reply. You can learn Power BI + Power Query + Power Pivot in a discounted course bundle here.

Note: some of the columns you want to relate aren't present in both tables, e.g. Quality Score and Quality Metric etc.

1st of all I am totally much appreciated your videos and the effort and time you spent on YouTube and forum for free.

With all honest the fees of the course is beyond my budget ability to afford. You do deserve every single $ you are asking for as the information you do offer for free deserve a lot already.

If I may ask about some general questions regarding the file (I've realized that I've uploaded 2 copies of the same file by mistake).

Regarding the mobile wallets sheet and quality metrics sheet, each row represent values for a one quarter and I am looking for the quarter level only, so this is the simple level that I need as I do not need to have any extra level of details.

Also I do not want to calculate anything but just want to represent the values as it is, so do I need to add or remove anything (columns I mean).

I do understand the tabular concept and I do understand the power pivot and power query concepts.

What I have in my mind to achieve is to have a visual for a each yellow item from the MobileWalletsSheet and then add all the other yellow items from the QualityMetricsSheet to relate it, and I want to do so in each visual.

What makes me confused is that when I drag any item from a table to canvas and drage another item from another table I found it does not relate and does not affect each others, but it only affect each others when I drag items from the same table.

Isn't having the same header make it related to each others or I am mistaken?

Thanks

I hope that I do express my point correctly as English is not my native.

Hi MG,

These sentences:

"What makes me confused is that when I drag any item from a table to canvas and drag another item from another table I found it does not relate and does not affect each others, but it only affect each others when I drag items from the same table. Isn't having the same header make it related to each others or I am mistaken? " tell me you do not understand Power Pivot and how to structure or build your model. It's not as simple as having matching column headers at all, and it's not something I can cover in a forum as it's a vast topic.

I understand my courses don't match everyone's budget, so perhaps a book from here would be a better place to start.

Thanks a lot my friend.

I will follow your advice and take a deep breath and dive 🙂

Thanks for your valuable trying to help me.

I do understand your point that it is a wide range topic to be included in a forum thread reply.

May I suggest to offer a monthly membership?

Or if you may offer any plans for students like myself.

Thanks

Take care 🙂
