Hi, firstly apologies as my experience with excel consists of 2 weeks of a steep learning curve and several head aches trying to sort out a problem I have and the spreadsheet I have doesn't as yet work.
my sheet is attached but I cannot get the turbine data validation to work .ie drop down doesn't appear, I've tried =indirect(b2) but that gives an error of "the source evaluates to an error." I have also tried a data validation of =choice but I've also somehow got that wrong as well?
The aim of my sheet is to have multiple dependant drop down lists consisting of
A) drop down to select 1 of 5 wind farms
B) drop down list to select any 1 of upto 13 turbines at that selected wind farm
C) display the I.P address of any one of the selected turbines
D) action to go to that turbine I.P address by opening the browser and automatically
entering the I.P address in the browser

Hi Rob
I have no idea why your data was setup the way it was. It is far too complex for me to understand.
I have rearranged your data into tables and renamed some ranges for the data validation and VLOOKUP for the IP address.
You can now add data to the list and it will auto expand the range for the data validation.
The IP address is hyperlinked so you can just click on it. I think this is what you intend to do in part (D) of your question.
Hope I got it right.
Good luck.

Hi Sunny
that's great and many thanks for taking the time to look at it and help. The sheet was an adaptation of a working example that used fruit. I have attached this as an example for anyone interested.
I have a lot to learn and I will now look at working how you have used both data validation and the vlookup, I will out of interest
look at other ways it might be done.
again thank you for helping.
