Hello,

I'd like to select Pictures according to a slicer selection. I have 2 files: 1 "reporting file" where there is the slicer and the final reports (including about 20 pictures) and the "pictures file" with all the pictures (about 2000).

To avoid that the "reporting file" would become too big in size (by containing all the pictures), I'd like to store the pictures in a separated file. All of them being in a unique cell with a unique defined name.

To select the right picture (according to the slice selection), I wanted to make reference to a "defined name" in the "pictures file".

From what I understood, it's not possible to make a reference to a "defined name" from another workbook.

Am I right? If yes, do you see other means to deal with this topic?

Warmly

Fred

Hello Fred,

You can reference to defined names in other workbooks, but if there is any new data in any of them you would need to open the other workbooks once in order to update the destination workbook with these new data. Check out this support article from Microsoft on how to create links/references to cells in other workbooks.

Br,
Anders
