Sorry Anders for my message that are not clear enough,
I have data from bank transaction that have a name in the transaction (column A).
I want to get the name (from column A) which is match to the name list in Column F.
The Result in column C.
with the given formula that I see in Mynda's website, most of the result match to the name list in column F (if it doesn't match than will result #N/A result which is as expected),
but in some cell in column C, the result are not as expected:
- Result in C23: "MER". It should result "MARKOS P" that match to name list in column F (row 46)
- Result in C24 & C26: #REF!. It should result #N/A because there are not in name list (column F)
thank you
Br,
Fendy

Hi Fendy,
The problem is caused because there are multiple matches in your List e.g. item 5, AR is in the value in cell A23 as is item 46, 'MARKOS P' which adds up to 51 (5+46) and so it returns MAR, which is item 51 in the list.
With the values in cells A24 and A26 there are errors because there are multiple matches which add to values greater than 134 (179 and 190 respectively), so it returns a #REF! error because there are only 134 items in the List.
You need to remove the ambiguity from your list so Excel knows which name to match.
