Hi

I am using the sumifs function to collect GP of specific product in specific branch and give the total monthly GP per month for each branch. It works well for P1, P2 and P3, but the exact same formula for P4 turns up no result, also no error. I am using office 365 for mac, and I have checked that calculations are automatic, I have checked the formats for each cell, row, column etc, still no joy. Am I missing something simple. Looking forward to be put out of my misery...

In T23 you have a space before & after the word March. Remove them & the formula works.

Hello,

Something is wrong with your month headers for the P4 section. Choose to clear the cells and type in the month names again and you are on the track.

Br,
Anders

Thanks guys! Knew it had to be something simple. Works fine now.

Question - I copied the dates from the above sections, why would a space be added?

Same document - P1 one is working fine (having typed the formula in R6 and copied down and then across). However, when testing further, it would not calculate if I use August, September etc.for Chimoio and Nampula - Matola works fine, so it is not the month or the values. I have deleted and retyped, change to TEXT and back to GENERAL, nothing seems to work... What am I missing?

Hi Alwyn,

Like Anders said, your month headers for P4 on row 23 are not entered correctly. They have a leading and trailing space in each cell. You need to clear these and the simplest way is to copy the headers from P3 on row 17.

Hello,

I don't know how familiar you are with Pivot Tables, but in attached file is a simple example where I have the data in an Excel table and then use a Pivot Table to get the results. Just add more data to the Excel table and then update the Pivot Table.

I suggest you choose such approach instead of building a summary view manually. With tables things get a lot more easier.

Br,
Anders
