I got this Pivot table with two slicers to easily filter.

In one of the slicers there where 4 options, let's say A, B, C and ?, because that were the values in that certain field.

After a while we solved the problem where we had put the question mark, so in that field there is only an A, B or C left.

But in the slicer the ? is still available on the background (choosing it gives an empty pivot table of course and without filtering you see it gray, but it's still there).

I removed the field and re-entered it, I removed the slicer and re-entered it, closed the file and opened it again, but that doesn't work.

I think I read something about refreshing the cache table, but don't know how to do that and if that's the solution to this thing?

thanks for help.

Hi Frans,

If you've deleted some data from the source, that data can still be displayed unless you tell the PT / Slicer not to display it, even if you've refreshed the pivot cache.

You can right click on the PT -> PT Options -> Data and in the drop down list in the middle of that form under the heading 'Retain items deleted from the data source' change the 'Number of items to retain per field' to 'None'

You could also right click on the slicer -> Slicer Settings and in the bottom right uncheck the box 'Show items deleted from the data source'.

Cheers

Phil

Hi Frans

I prefer option 1 to set the option to "None" as suggested by Philip.

I normally set this option for every PT that I created to prevent the issue you encountered.

After that a simple refresh will solve the problem.

Dear Anders, Philip and Sunny:

Thanks very much. I love you guys! Fast answers and to the point. Thanks Anders for the link, because that also gave another new information for me.

But the solution of Philip was wel described, so I could use that easily.

Keep up with the good works boys!

Frans
