Guys, me again looking for help again!
Part of my role is to forecast out equipment requirements on a project by project basis. I need to be able to show the equipment commitment over time so of course a Gantt chart is a great way to do it. I have been trying to create my own with a lot of google searches and messing around. I have attached my latest try at it with this note and would appreciate if you can take a look at it as it will likely help clarify my questions below.
I need to be able to list out the following resources per project:
- Trucks (Qty 1-3)
- Tools
- ITC (these are just different tools)
I don’t have it on the attached sheet but ideally I need to be able to allocate people to the project too – multiples up to x6 individuals
I can set the project duration and the Gantt populates, (hopefully you can see that on the attached worksheet "GANTT (WL)"), but I have been asked to show four different distinct “bands” of time on the same row a mock up of what I would like this to look like is on worksheet "Time bands".
Any and all help/advice appreciated.

Hi Alan,
Thanks for sharing your file and a mock-up of what you're trying to achieve. This makes your question very clear.
If the split of bands is always the same e.g. 33% project perparation, 44% on job site and 11% Transit time, then you could just factor this split into your conditional formatting rule. However, if it changes from one project to the next then you'd need to add columns for those dates to support your conditional formatting rules. i.e. instead of having just a start and end date, you'll also need a project preparation end date, a transit end date, a job site end date etc.
I hope that points you in the right direction.
