I'm trying to make a pivot table more readable, but introducing varying colours to the rows. Ideally I'd like to make the row colour to be dependent on a row label such as Date. Failing that, I'd just like to make the rows of the pivot table to be repeating on alternate lines.

I tried using the 'row banding' option, but nothing changed. I looked for solutions and it was suggested that I clear existing formatting with lthe 'no fill' option. I did that but it hasn't changed the row colours.

I thought I may be able to 'pull though' the formatting from the source table, so I formatted that. But no joy.

Any ideas?

Could you upload a file with an example of a PT that you would want to format? And then apply the formatting manually so that we can see what you mean exactly.
