I want to dive a time by another time to know what percentage one is of the other.

Hi James,

Can you give an example and the expected result please?

You can't divide 'times' as such.  What is 12.30am divided by 3.45pm?  Makes no sense.

You could divide durations though.  For example, if it's 3.45pm, how much of the day has passed?

regards

Phil

Correct, I want to divide a duration.

So if the numerator is 1:00 (one minute) and the denominator is 1:30, ie one minute 30, then it's 66.67%, but I can't divide them without converting to seconds first, which is a pain.

The use case is multiclass para athletics, where they divide the result in a race by the world record time to normalise athlete's results if they are in different classes.

Hi James,

If you put 0:1:00 in a cell and 0:1:30 in another cell then divide the former by the latter, you get 0.667.

What have you tried that hasn't worked?

Regards

Phil
