hi there!
i am currently creating a stock portfolio tracker in excel where i want to get my current portfolio (stock name, units of stock current held, and the average price)
i am having some problems on getting the average price of a specific stock that i currently have
for example
i bought 100 shares of company X at $15
then you sold 100 shares of company X at $20 (i represented selling in my excel file as a negative number)
then you bought back 100 shares of company X at $16?
if i simply use the weighted average function , it will just get the weighted average of all the stocks..
but in reality i just want $16,
is there a way to do this in excel or google sheets?
thank you

Hi Lester,
Welcome to our forum!
As explained in my reply on YouTube,
"You'd need to add a column (to the ledger table) that marks shares as sold so you can then exclude those shares in your formulas with another criteria in the SUMIFS formula.
Please attempt this yourself. If you get stuck, please post your question and Excel file on our forum showing your attempt and we can help you further."
We can't do your work for you, we can only help you if you get stuck trying to do it yourself.
Thanks,
Mynda
