Good question. Are you saying the actual pivot tables on a very hidden worksheet need to be editable?

Yes, because when you choose an item in the Slicer it changes the PivotTable so if the PivotTable can't change it won't work.

I unprotected the dashboard sheet and the entire pivot table sheet, and uploaded it.

I can select everything except the slicers. At a loss....I am using Excel 2016.

You mean that the Slicers itself are protected and you cannot make any selections? If so, right click the slicers, click on Size and Properties , and in Properties section make sure the Locked checkbox is not checked.

Not only not checked, but I unprotected all sheets and uploaded again, still no interaction.

Can I delete the online workbook and resend it without generating another .htm?

There is nothing wrong with the file, the slicers are functional, online and offline.

Try to repair your office installation, might be a corrupted installation. But if there is a problem with office installation, this should affect only the offline use, online you should be able to use the slicers without problems. Try with Internet explorer, or another browser, even if it should work fine with most browsers.

I have tried it with Edge, Chrome, Firefox, and Opera and none of them will let me select the slicer buttons.

It works perfectly on my Toshiba laptop with Excel 2016. I just tried hiding the data and pivot sheets again

and save the file with a different suffix. Then I altered the .htm file accordingly. It loads and displays the correct

file, but still no joy. Should I try rebuilding the htm file from scratch?

Update. If I click on the shared link I sent to you, I can select the slicer buttons, but cannot select any users, so the data does not display.

First, you have to click the button to "Edit in Browser". The workbook is not in edit mode by default, you have 2 choices: to edit in excel or in browser.

When creating the embed code, you have a few choices that should be selected: expand advanced options, and in Interaction section, yo have to select the option to "Let users sort and filter", and "Let people type into cells". The last one will not allow you to type a password or select from a dropdown if it's not enabled.
