Can I have an input field on a dashboard?
I have a dashboard that summarizes a huge table of data. One of the elements I would like on the dashboard is a sales pipeline chart that changes as the user inputs a value into a 'revenue required' field. That input will then generate the updated sales pipeline chart.
But I can't see how to create that on the dashboard. If I make the chart and input on a separate sheet, I can't seem to copy that to the dashboard, it copies as a picture.
Thanks

Hi Robert,
Welcome to our forum!
Yes, you can have an input field on the dashboard itself, which you then reference in your formulas that build the tables that feed your charts. You can cut and paste the chart from the sheet you build it on, and paste it on the dashboard sheet. I'm not sure how you're managing to copy it as a picture.
If you get stuck, please upload a sample Excel file.

Thank you Mynda. I came across you from across the world!
I am now following you, and your email today about the differences between Excel and Power Bi dashboards is really useful as we move forward with our project to better show the data we have developed. Currently we are trying to use Excel but the comment about data security is really useful. Thanks.
Thank you for this reply. I'm still not sure why doing what you say (I think I am doing, but obviously not) is copying as a picture. I will investigate further to see what I have done wrong.
In the meantime I will investigate your Power Bi courses.

Hi Robert,
To copy a chart, select the very outer edge of the chart so the pull handles are activated > CTRL+C > go to where you want to paste it > CTRL+V.
Hope that helps, but let me know if that doesn't work and if possible, supply the sample file so I can try to replicate the issue.
