Hi there,

I am currently using Power Query  to combine different tables. The result ist 20k rows an 250 cols. With this result I will fill 8 different excel sheets.

Very slow 😉 But you helped me with the disabeling of the actualisation in the background.

Now my question is to improve my Query a little bit more an to understand some things:

- Is power Pivot better and for what should it be used? The view of the connections between the table are very nice 😉

- What is the data model in Power query. Should I use this only if I use power pivot or are there advantages using it in Power query?

- Is there something else I can improve in power query (I have a lot m:n relations at the beginning of combining the first tables in Power query)?

Thanx

Jörg

Hi Jörg,

Power Query is for data transformations, Power Pivot is for data analysis.

The data model is associated to the workbook, not to power query, you can use power query to add data to the workbook data model.

The data model is used in Power Pivot for building reports.

- Is there something else I can improve in power query (I have a lot m:n relations at the beginning of combining the first tables in Power query)?

Please ask specific questions with sample files if possible and examples of what you want to improve, this question is too general and unclear. It might make sense to you, but please keep in mind that we we do not have any information about what you are doing in the queries or how the data looks, or what is the desired output.
