I'm looking for a smart way to Retire a report.
For example. I want to remove the pre-2022 data from storage so my Power Query will run quicker.
I also want to Archive a 2021 version of the report but if it's opened and Refreshed, the data-model will then lose the pre-2022 data.
Do I need to convert my Data-Model only, Connections, and move them to tables, then remove the Power Queries. (Sounds like quite a lot of effort)
Is there a better way to handle this? What are the best practises?
Power Query
Power Pivot
Xtreme Pivot Tables
Excel for Decision Making
Excel for Finance
Excel Analysis Toolpak
Power BI
Excel
Word
Outlook
Excel Expert
Excel Customer Service

Hi Graeme,
If there are a lot of data transformations in the query that makes it slow, you can save the transformation output table as a separate xlsx Archive. These will not need transformations, will load much faster.
Then, you can remove older source data from source folder and add another query to Archived Transformations folder to append these tables to your data transformation query.
