Hi, I work for a large company (40,000+) with a central IT department. We are just moving over to Windows 10 from Windows 7. I received a new Dell laptop this week with Intel i9 processor, 64Gb Ram etc, a powerful machine...and Windows 10. I use Windows 10 at home, since they brought it out and I like it...but the Power Queries that ran fine with O365 under Windows 7 and took maybe 5 minutes to run are now not completing at all after an hour under Windows 10. It's driving me nuts as I can't do my job at all. Can't even get on with any other work in Excel at the same time.
Any suggestions gratefully received. Have already checked Cortana is off which it was.
Regards

I'm using Excel 64bit Version 2006 (Build 13001.20520 Click to Run) on a Monthly Enterprise Plan. I am getting data from 34 workbooks, appending those and then appending with an archive all in the same table format. I keep the majority of the queries as connection only and there's 145 queries in the workbook. Largest table size currently is about 30,000 rows and 33 columns. We don't use PowerBI as the company decided to go with Tableau, Tableau Prep, Google Big Query, and RapidMiner for analytics. They are great but the majority of my colleagues don't use or understand them so I still use Excel where I have to make files where others can also use them.

Hi Mark,
Having a look at your version I can see it's up to date. I'm not aware of any Power Query performance issues associated with a move from Win7 to Win10. I would get your IT people to reach out to Microsoft support through their SLA and have someone investigate ASAP.
I would also see if you can find a machine that is still on Win7 and test that the query still runs in 5 minutes, as I wonder if something in the back end has changed that is causing the problem.
Also check through the recommendations for speeding up Power Query refreshes here. Maybe you had those settings in Win7 but the move to Win10 changed them. Unlikely, but worth checking.

Hi Mynda, thanks for the reply. I have raised a ticket with our IT department and I think they will re-install O365, probably on Monday now. I have done the Quick Fix and Online fix of O365 but it's still just as slow. I have managed to update all the queries now though so can produce the report that I needed to do. I have previously done the speedup fixes in your link but will check those again.
