Greetings from sunny South Africa. I regularly download a csv file from my bank website containing transaction history. The Description column contains the reference of the transaction. For clients paying into the account, this field is free-form and they sometimes include commas in the text. It appears that the banks process of extracting the data into a csv neglects to wrap the Description field in quotes. When importing into power query, I can get a random number of columns after the Description. Sometimes the file is clean and the Description field contains no commas. I have tried merging the columns but stymied by the varying number of columns. Once this data is clean I need to change the query to remove duplicate rows and then do a recurring query. Both the duplicate removal and the recurring query I can do. Can someone please assist with these pesky commas. Sample file attached.
