Dear all

I am frustrated with no luck of finding more information regarding the query issue online... hoping that someone here can shed any light on the problem I am having right now.

After connecting from Microsoft query, the data table window is not showing up, the query is blank and still. can't close it, have to end task to get out of it.

I can connect to the database via ODBC no problem, but I can't help other colleagues to edit or modify their queries. Can anyone please direct me to the right track?

many thanks

Tina

Hi Tina,

Please supply the file with the query so we can examine it.

Regards

Phil

Hi Phil

The query is linked to work database, I am not sure if I can share here.

I can get to 'choose data source' window, but the query goes blank after I selected the data source I want to link. I have attached a screen shot, hope that helps?

Thanks

Tina

Hi Tina,

You've posted in the Power Query forum and I assumed that's what you were using even though you mentioned Microsoft Query.

MS Query is a different program to Power Query.  MS Query is really old and is deprecated.  You should be using Power Query to get your data from a database (and other sources).  PQ is free and built in to recent versions of Excel.

Hi Phil

I guess that I was afraid of getting out of my comfort zone... I have started using PQ since 2018, but a lot of my old reports were built through MS Query plus array formulas etc...then convert to DB. PQ is a really smart tool, I do find that it simplifies a lot of steps for cleansing-manipulating data.

I work in education field, and wondering if any of your courses covers data analysis in qualitative data area?

I will have a look at the course you recommend for sure.

Thanks again

Tina
