Hi,

I have access to a Power BI report online via the Power BI service. The report has a restricted data set based on user permissions. I have permission to use the Analyze in Excel option and can access the dataset in Excel to build pivot tables. I can also build Power BI dashboards online but when I save the report I can't then go back and edit it so I would have to build the report in one go and if there were any issues I would have to start from scratch. There is no Edit option available.

I obviously have the permissions to access the dataset and want to build a dashboard in Power BI desktop or connect using Power Query. However I don't know how to connect to the data in either. The Excel file I created using the Analyze in Excel option has a Connection that says it is an OLAP Query. There is a connection string that gives me the access here but how do I do the same in BI Desktop or Power Query?

Any pointers in the right direction would be great.
