Hello,
I am having an issue below and hope to get some advice on how to fix it.
Each table has 7 columns, when tables are appended and loaded, there are more than 7 columns.
I have inheritated the file and do not know how it is done. When I looked at the source data, each table has the exact same headers and in order but once all loaded, item from column E and D either stay in a right column or moves to column I - D.
As I am not able to attached the original file, I have created one that demonstrates the issues that I am having. Hope you can point me where to look to fix the problem.
Thank you!
L
Hi Luna,
The attached file does not clarify things, brings even more confusion.
That's because a table cannot have more than 1 column with the same name, it's impossible. Your "appended data" table has multiple columns with the same name. Usually, a combined table will have more columns than the original tables when there is a difference in headers, keep in mind that power query is case sensitive, so 'Risk' and 'risk' are treated as different headers.
You don't have to attach the original file, simply keep only a few rows with fake data in each table, the query used is important to see what's going on there.
Thanks Catalin, I re-do the header, it works but column B in the original table has moved to column D in appended table (highlighted in orange) and I cannot figure out why..
Can you attach the file again? can't download.
