I'm having a hard time following along with the course on power pivot.... your examples are for 2010 & 2013 and I'm using 2016 do i have the right course. is there one specific for 2016?
Hi Bill,
Power Pivot is the same in Excel 2016 as it is in 2013 so I suspect you haven't enabled the Power Pivot add-in, or you don't have a version of Excel compatible with Power Pivot.
If your version of Excel has Power Pivot available then you will be able to enable it in the COM Add-ins:
File tab > Options > Add-ins > in the 'Manage' list at the bottom choose COM Add-ins > click GO. Make sure 'Power Pivot' is checked in the list.
If Power Pivot isn't in the list of COM add-ins then it will mean you have a version of Excel that doesn't come with Power Pivot. Power Pivot is available in Excel 2016 Professional Plus, Excel 2016 Standalone or Office 365 ProPlus.
Please let me know how you get on.

Hi
I am in the same situation as I have Home 365 so cannot use Power Pivot. I asked if I could upgrade and was told no !!
They did send me a link to download PivotPivot 2010 and said that would work but other sites said it wouldn't so afraid to download.
Did consider downloading a standalone version but not sure if two versions of Excel 2016 would work.
Appreciate this has nothing to do with the PowerPivot course but the thought of linking tables with PowerPivot instead of Vlookup really gets me excited.
Has anyone cracked this ?
Hi David,
You should be able to upgrade your Office 365 account to ProPlus so you have Power Pivot. I suspect they either didn't understand the question, or didn't offer you the right solution.
To be clear, you can't just buy Power Pivot and use it with Office 365 Home. You must upgrade your Office 365 Home account to a ProPlus account and then you will have Power Pivot.
The other option, if you don't want to upgrade, is to purchase the stand alone version of Excel 2016 for around US$100, as this comes with all the Power tools.
However, I would highly recommend upgrading your Office 365 account to ProPlus because Microsoft are updating Excel on a monthly cycle now, and with the Office 365 account you get the updates, but with the stand alone version of Excel 2016 you can't update it.
Let me know how you get on.
