Hi,

I am on Mynda's power pivot course.  In lesson 3.03 we imported data from access database.  In lesson 3.04 we added to the data model an excel table with dates.

Although the access database data was still in power pivot, the excel table was not linked when I added it to the data model.  I think it's because I didn't save the data model after importing the access database data.

How do I save and name a power pivot data model in excel 2016?

Thanks

Rosemary

Hi Rosemary,
What do yo mean by "excel table not linked when added to data model"?
After adding a table to Power Pivot, you should create the relationships with other tables from the data model, this relationship will not be created automatically.
There is no way to save a data model, other than saving the file itself, the file has only 1 data model associated, it's not possible to have multiple data models in the same file.
If you have different sets of related tables, you will add them to the same unique data model, but build the relationships only between the relevant tables, build the measures for that group of related tables.

Hi Rosemary,

Are you thinking the table isn't linked because it doesn't show the link icon in the table tab in Power Pivot in Excel 2016? If so, don't worry, it's still linked, it's just that they changed the GUI.

Try it by changing/adding a date and then refresh the connection in Power Pivot.
