Hello- I"m working on building a power pivot using work data. I will occasionally need to add another sheet and have put it into the data model and created the relationships. However, when I refresh the model and the previous pivot tables, the current pivot tables do not include the new sheet-I have to create a completely new pivot. Is this normal or am I missing something?
Hi Nancy,
Welcome to our forum!
This new sheet, does it contain the same data as other tables in your Power Pivot model e.g. is it the data you are summarising in your PivotTables? I ask because it's not clear why you'd expect this new table to appear in PivotTables you've already built since it would/should have different fields.
Perhaps you can share your model or some screenshots that document what you're working with.

Hi again and thanks for the quick reply. It's still a work in progress- the model was built for me with some example data combined with some real data before I started the class. Now I'm needing to add more sheets and add to the real data and it so I'm just checking to see this is normal- that I do need to have all the data in the sheet before starting the pivot. The existing pivots I created with the sample data don't refresh with the new data, but if I created a completely new pivot table, all the info is there.
Hi Nancy,
The structure of your model isn't clear to me, sorry. If you're adding data to an existing table then you should be able to simply refresh any PivotTables that are connected to that table to include any new data.
If you're adding a new table to your model, then it's not going to appear in any existing PivotTables because the fields of the new tables aren't used in the PivotTable, however the new tables will be available to build new PivotTables from.
I think your understanding of how everything works isn't clear. Please share a screenshot of your Power Pivot model diagram view so I can see the different tables. Also show me a screenshot of the PivotTable you're expecting to include this new data, including the field list, so I can determine whether it's an issue with the model/PivotTable or something missing in your understanding of how it should work.
