Hi Team,

We have pro/premium license for power BI.

Can I export visuals (Matrix) to Excel? When I tried, it looks too different.

Thank you.

regards,

Aye

If you can export them, then the answer is yes. If it looks different then that's not a licencing issue, it's simply a limitation. If you want a matrix then why don't you just build a PivotTable in Excel?

Hi Mynda

More on this subject please. The data in a BI matrix is formatted specifically so users can digest the info in the best way. When exporting to excel it downloads the underlying data as a raw un-formatted table. Yes, we could then create a pivot to get it looking like it was in BI, but I would like to make this easy for users who will not want to have to create a pivot (some don't know how) in order to see the data better.

Is there a way in BI to have the data dump to excel as is and not pull the underlying data? Like highlighting all the data in the matrix and copy paste into excel - BI doesn't allow this of course, but something like that?

Thanks

Peter

Hi Peter,

The matrix you see in Power BI is a visual, much like any other visual e.g. charts, and you cannot export Power BI visuals to Excel. The only option is to rebuild the matrix equivalent in Excel, which is a PivotTable.
