Learning lots on power query and power pivot but the one thing that I am missing is sharing these excel sheets with other dept. For example I created an excel workbook that has a great pivot table using power query that was imported from a private folder. if i copy that excel sheet to a user desktop the excel workbook becomes useless because it can no longer get to the data source yet i don't want the folder to be public for anyone to go in and change or delete files. what am i missing?

You have to change the process: Create a file with queries to extract data from that private folder, that you will have to update from time to time, then create a file for users, that will connect to the file that has all the data with no restrictions, not to the private folder.
