Power Query

Hi,
I have a report that contains a pivot table. The data source for the pivot is a Power BI data model. The pivot was initially created by using the Export --> Analyze in Excel option from the Power BI dashboard online.
The pivot table has various slicers associated with it and it was all working fine. However recently there seems to be a problem with one of the slicers. When the report is opened the Olap cube connection is refreshed and then it moves on and shows a message “Running slicer operation” but it doesn't get any further. Excel is then unresponsive and I have to end task via the task manager.
I have narrowed it down to one of the slicers. If I remove this slicer and save the report it works fine. If I add the slicer field as a pivot report filter field that works ok.
Has anyone experienced a similar issue. Does anyone have an idea what might be causing this?
Thanks
Bax

Hi Mynda,
Thanks for the response. The issue seems to only be when the file is opening. If I remove the slicer then the file opens ok. I can then add the slicer back and it works! It is really weird. I checked with the owners of the BI data model and they say nothing has changed so not sure what is causing this.
Thanks

Hi,
I have worked out what is causing the issue. It seems that when you use the "Analyze in Excel" option from Power BI the pivot table that is automatically created in the output file is set up with the "Refresh data when opening the file" option selected.
I remove this from the pivots in my file and now it opens without an issue. As soon as the user uses a slicer or report filter the connection to the data model is refreshed and it works fine.
Thanks for your help with this.
Hope it helps if anyone else has the same problem.
Regards
Bax
