I have an Excel spreadsheet where I link in a text file that is in another location on the network.
Everything was working fine. I could update the text file and then update the link on the spreadsheet.
My employer switched to using SharePoint and OneDrive. The file organization structure was changed somewhat. When I try to reconnect the text file, I can't navigate to SharePoint. I was able to create a shortcut from SharePoint to OneDrive. I can connect the text file by navigating to OneDrive. The problem with this is when another person wants to use a copy of the file, the connection is to my OneDrive.
I tried opening the file in the browser but the browser version of Excel does not have links to text files.
The IT provider we use is looking into the issue. I've had to demonstrate to them what is going on. They have never seen this before.
I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue or knows how to connect a text file in the SharePoint environment.

Hi David,
OneDrive paths are specific to individual users and cause compatibility issues. Using SharePoint ensures that file paths are universal and accessible to all authorized users.
Ensure the text file is stored directly in a SharePoint document library instead of OneDrive. This allows the file to be accessed using a shared URL rather than a user-specific path.
