Hi,
I need a way to auto-populate some cells based off some basic criteria. I have no idea how to do it and google searches have yielded no fruit.
Attached is my workbook for reference.
I need cells F6:J7 to be populated with numbers ranging from 3 – 5 i.e. possible numbers are 3, 4 and 5. Not all the cells in this range need to be used as the sum of cells F6:J7 must equal the value in K6 which in this case is 21. K6 has a simple subtraction formula and must only equal 0 once cells F6:J7 have been populated.
In other words, cells F6:J7 must only be populated to the extent that K6 = 0. Therefore, not all the cells will be populated.
E.g. within cells F6:J7 I can have 7 cells which are all populated with the number 3. This would equal 21, return a 0 in cell K6 and 3 cells in F6:J7 will be empty.
Or only 5 cells could be populated with 4, 4, 5, 4, 4. This will equal 21 and the other 5 cells will be empty.
The value of K6 must depend on the value in cell I3. And the auto-population should adjust accordingly. Initially cell I3 will be empty and once I input a value there then I want cells F6:J7 to be populated with the criteria stated above.
Please let me know how I could do this or if it is even possible.
I am working on pc using version 2407 of Excel.
Thanks.
Regards,
Christian.
Hi Liam,
What is the purpose of this? How does this problem relate to your work?
