Is it possible to embed Power BI within an Excel workbook so that users don't have to switch applications? Or at least to be visible within the Excel workbook? I want to use Power BI's graphics.
Hi Paul, I'm afraid you don't get the point of what Power BI is or how it's working.
Did you watch the free webinar here on this website? ( https://www.myonlinetraininghub.com/excel-webinars#pbi_anchor).
Maybe that helps to give you the clue.
good luck!

Yes, but I didn't recall whether what I wanted was possible. From the free webinar site it says, "Plays nice with Excel - embed your own Excel charts, tables, even whole dashboards." So you can embed Excel within Power BI, but not Power BI within Excel. I want my users to have Power BI-type charts in the Excel workbook, without clicking or linking to anything outside the workbook. I think that was possible in Power View, but it looks like that was discontinued.
Hi Paul,
You can't embed Power BI in Excel, only Excel in Power BI. However, there are new custom visuals (charts) coming to Excel.
As for Power View, it was deprecated. Power BI was the replacement for Power View.

That's what I've been waiting for! I trust you'll write a blog post or two when it becomes available.
Paul
Sure will 🙂
